divh2Painter/h2pApplies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures by performing the following duties./ppEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned./pulliReads work order or receives instructions from supervisor regarding painting./liliSmoothes surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting./liliFills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler./liliRemoves fixtures such as pictures and electric switchcovers from walls prior to painting./liliSpreads dropcloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting./liliPaints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers./liliSimulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects./liliApplies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects./liliErects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level./liliWashes surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover./liliNeat, well groomed, appropriately dressed appearance./liliPerforms other related duties as required or assigned./li/ulpTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
