Project Manager / Executive Assistant

A well-known nonprofit organization in Houston is seeking a highly organized and proactive Project Manager / Executive Assistant to support its Vice President of Public Affairs on a contract assignment. This role is ideal for a polished administrative professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and is confident keeping executives and projects on track. This position will support initiatives related to government relations, board relations, and revenue generation through government funding. The ideal candidate will be a strong self-starter who can work independently, manage deadlines with urgency, and provide high-level administrative and project support in a dynamic environment.
Position: Executive Assistant/Project Manager to VP of Public Affairs
Hours: 8am

5pm (100% in-office)
Contract Duration: at least 90-days (possible extension)
Key Responsibilities

Manage executive calendar, appointments, meetings, and scheduling priorities
Track deadlines, deliverables, and follow-ups to ensure projects remain on schedule
Assist with administrative and project coordination related to government and board initiatives
Monitor applications, submissions, reporting deadlines, and related documentation
Coordinate communications and support day-to-day executive operations
Provide organizational support for meetings, presentations, and executive priorities
Assist with grant-related support and documentation as needed
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and strong attention to detail in all interactions
Qualifications

Previous Executive Assistant, Project Coordinator, Project Manager, or high-level administrative support experience required
Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
Ability to work independently and proactively manage competing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Professional, polished, and adaptable demeanor
Experience supporting executives, board relations, government initiatives, or nonprofit environments is a plus
Grant writing or grant support experience is a plus
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
