Function / Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to direct the day-to-day operations of the department's technical staff, infrastructure, and service delivery systems. This role ensures the continuous, secure, and reliable operation of all district technology, allowing the director to focus on long-term strategic governance, capital planning, and organizational vision. Supervises the Network Engineering team and Technology Support Specialist Supervisors. The Assistant Director of Information Services (ADIS) serves as the primary operational partner and senior support to the Director of Information Services.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Information Services in managing the daily activities of the technology department.
Support the Director of Information Services in formulating short- and long-range technology plans and determining the necessary resources to achieve goals and objectives.
Assist in planning, coordinating, and directing information services activities for the school district.
Help oversee the district's WAN infrastructure, voice and video networks, internet access (including filtering), and the e-mail system.
Provide technical and administrative support for curriculum, staff development, and instructional technology components.
Assist in the development and maintenance of information systems plans and technology strategies to ensure they support current and future district needs.
Work with the Director to manage vendors and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Support the implementation and maintenance of communication technologies such as phone and intercom systems.
Assist in managing the department's budget, overseeing expenditures, and ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
Support the procurement of technology hardware and software by working with vendors.
Assist in developing and enforcing technology policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Support the Director in managing large-scale technology projects, infrastructure upgrades, and technology deployments.
Act as the Director in their absence.
Assist in the coordination of E-Rate applications and support compliance efforts as directed by the Director.
Support the planning, coordination, and oversight of the competitive bidding process.
Provide administrative and technical support for the preparation and review of technology-related proposals, recommendations, and agenda items submitted to the Board of Education.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Services.
Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field required. Equivalent education and professional experience may be substituted.
Experience / Knowledge

Relevant experience in a K-12 school district environment is highly desirable.
Minimum of five years of information services management experience.
Working knowledge of VoIP communications is preferred.
Experience with troubleshooting complex network issues is preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
The ability to direct and evaluate the work of others.
A background in planning for technology within a school system, including administration, instruction, and operations.
Physical Demands

Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.
Terms of Employment

This is a 12-month work-year position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
Some evenings to attend Board of Education meetings (required).
The salary range for this position is $100,716.00 - $151,055.00. Our typical practice is to hire in between the minimum and midpoint $125,886.00.
