Position Overview
Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks a Full‑time Public Affairs Specialist (NH‑1035‑02) to work at the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) for the 78th Air Base Wing at Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, Georgia. Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $40,736 – $97,087 annually with locality adjustments. Relocation, Retention and Student Loan Incentives may be authorized.
Responsibilities
Carry out a variety of recurring public affairs assignments, including but not limited to:
Media operations, social media, and community engagement
Command information, visual information (illustrations, photography, presentations, television/motion picture production, base cable access)
Communication planning, contingency/crisis response, and special event planning
Environmental, security and policy review
Public affairs resource management at an Air Force installation/organization in support of the mission and the commander’s priorities
Qualifications
Requirements:
Obtain and maintain a security clearance
May be required to travel to perform temporary duty
May have extended or other than normal duty hours
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of a public affairs program and written and oral communication principles, methods, and techniques.
Knowledge of the organization’s operations and functions sufficient to communicate accurate information.
Knowledge of concepts, principles, policies, and practices for communicating information through visual means, including illustrations, photography, presentations, television/motion picture production, and base cable access television.
Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting information to identify potential problems, arrive at valid conclusions, and offer meaningful recommendations and/or resolutions.
Skill in working with people to establish and maintain effective working relationships with groups interested in or affected by AF and local installation/organization programs and policies, and producing written information conveying complex information to public stakeholders with different levels of understanding.
Skill and ability to plan and develop news stories, features, and quasi‑technical articles.
Employment Terms
Depending on the type of position (competitive or excepted), the selected candidate will be required to serve a 1‑year probationary period or a 2‑year trial period. Upon completion, employment will be terminated unless a written certification states that continued employment advances the public interest.
