Responsibilities
Regulatory & Licensing Leadership
Serve as the Managing Principal / Qualified Individual (QI) for the HELOC brokerage, including representation on NMLS Form MU1 and applicable state filings.
Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Strategy teams to manage state licensing, renewals, Mortgage Call Report (MCR) filings, and regulatory examinations.
Maintain active Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) licenses across multiple states, including completion of continuing education and compliance requirements.
Provide supervisory oversight of sponsored MLOs, including onboarding, licensing support, and management where required.
Establish and maintain compliant policies, procedures, and controls aligned with regulatory requirements and a digital-first brokerage model.
Identify and mitigate regulatory and operational risks through proactive monitoring and escalation.
Operations & Process Optimization
Design and optimize digital-first operational workflows to improve efficiency while maintaining strong compliance controls.
Oversee brokerage operations, including loan intake, submission processes, exception handling, quality control, and post-closing reviews.
Monitor operational performance metrics (e.g., quality, compliance, throughput) and drive continuous improvement.
Manage third-party vendors effectively, prioritizing scalable external solutions where appropriate.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Growth teams to support the launch and scaling of HELOC brokerage operations.
Represent the brokerage with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory bodies.
Leverage AI and automation tools to enhance operational efficiency and productivity, ensuring adherence to regulatory and data governance standards.
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of experience in mortgage operations, mortgage banking, or brokerage, with increasing scope and leadership responsibility.
Experience serving as a Managing Principal / Qualified Individual or similar regulatory control role.
Active NMLS MLO licenses across multiple U.S. states at time of hire, with the ability to obtain additional licenses as needed.
Strong understanding of HELOC products, multi-state regulatory requirements, and broker supervision obligations.
Experience supporting regulatory audits, examinations, and compliance reviews.
Experience working in technology-enabled, fintech, or high-growth environments.
Active MLO licenses in Florida, Colorado, and Arizona .
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with digital lending platforms, automated underwriting systems, or API-driven mortgage infrastructure.
Experience designing scalable compliance frameworks and operational controls.
Familiarity with customer-facing mortgage processes, particularly in home improvement or HELOC use cases.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills in cross-functional environments
