Reporting to the Area Business Director, the Regional Sales Director will oversee a team of Specialty Account Managers (SAMs) within a defined geography and will be responsible for driving performance against regional and national objectives through tactical execution, coaching and developing SAMs, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. The RSD will partner with Market Access, Field Medical, Marketing, Commercial Operations, and Sales Training to ensure strategic alignment, seamless customer experiences, and continuous improvement across the field organization.
This is a highly visible leadership position with the opportunity to shape execution, culture, and success for Viridian’s first commercial launch.
This role is fully remote. Travel to headquarters for meetings may be required at the discretion of management.

Responsibilities
Leadership & People Development
Lead, coach, and inspire a team of Specialty Account Managers, with a strong emphasis on developing their selling capabilities, account management skills, and business acumen
Establish a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging learning, sharing best practices, and fostering proactive development
Promote a positive, high-energy team environment that balances accountability and performance with engagement, trust, and fun
Reinforce Viridian’s corporate values and contribute to a first-launch culture that prioritizes excellence, agility, and the wellbeing of our people
Regional Execution & Strategic Alignment
Translate national strategies into specific territory-level execution plans that ensure consistency across the team
Ensure aligned targeting, messaging, and engagement strategies across customer types, including ophthalmology specialists, endocrinologists, infusion centers, and referral networks
Guide the deployment of field resources, marketing programs, and support tools to maximize impact at the territory level
Business Planning & Performance Management
Provide performance coaching to SAMs and ensure disciplined execution of call plans, customer segmentation, and tactical activities
Monitor and analyze territory performance, competitive dynamics, and local market trends to drive continuous improvement
Conduct regular field rides and business reviews to identify strengths, address gaps, and celebrate success
Cross-Functional Partnership
Collaborate with Marketing, Field Medical, Market Access, Training, and Commercial Operations to ensure cohesive customer engagement
Share field insights and competitive intelligence to inform strategy, tactics, and resource development
Build and maintain relationships with key practices, referral networks, and influencers within the assigned geography
Support account engagement and pull-through strategies in collaboration with cross-functional partners
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, etc.) preferred
12+ years of progressive biotech/pharma sales experience, including 5+ years of first-line leadership experience (District/Regional Manager or equivalent)
Proven success launching specialty or rare disease products, ideally in buy-and-bill or complex referral ecosystems
Strong track record of leading teams to exceed performance goals
Deep understanding of specialty sales models, referral networks, and customer access dynamics
Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and retain high-performing teams
Strong analytical, business planning, and communication skills
Strong commitment to ethical standards
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
Ability to travel up to 70% including field visits and HQ meetings
The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
