Position Overview

Reporting and broadcast production responsibilities for KFBK, a legacy news radio station in Sacramento. The role includes research, writing, interviewing, production, and control board operation.
Responsibilities

Research and develop news stories.
Write scripts for broadcast segments.
Schedule and conduct interviews.
Coordinate with talent and producers to find story leads.
Serve as point person for fill‑in needs within the newsroom/station.
Deliver newscasts, announce scripts and audio around selected news events.
Write, review, and edit news copy, introductions, public service announcements, commercials, pre‑recorded reports, contests, etc.
Monitor technical quality and accuracy of on‑air programming.
Operate control board for studios and remote programming.
Check studio equipment and notify engineering of technical malfunctions.
Protect station’s license and handle emergency or breaking news.
Generate content for social media/digital platforms.
Qualifications

1–2 years of experience as an announcer in a smaller market or college station environment.
Strong communication skills for conducting interviews and asking the right questions.
Excellent writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar.
Proficiency in media production and broadcast systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social networking.
Socially informed and perceptive; aware of local and national trends.
Pleasant, charismatic and well‑controlled voice with excellent pronunciation.
Ability to deliver information to mass audiences in an easy‑to‑understand way.
Education

4‑year college degree, preferably in Communications or Journalism.
Certifications

None required.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary, hourly: $20.00 – $25.00.
Location: Sacramento, CA – 1545 River Park Drive, Suite 500, 95815.
Position type: Regular, part‑time, hourly.
