Program Underwriting Director
Responsible for leading the national development and execution of the underwriting strategy for the Management Liability underwriting vertical at Amynta Group. Leads the production underwriting team to achieve targeted profitability and growth and is heavily involved in developing and implementing production strategy, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
Direct and maintain the development of underwriting strategies, guidelines, and policies/procedures.
Oversee evaluation of new and renewal business, coverage types, limits of liability, line of business pricing structures, workflows, and final rating and issuance of policies and endorsements.
Manage the underwriting team within Management Liability, fostering a collaborative, supportive, and high‑performing culture and encouraging continuous improvement.
Set limits of authority, structure a referral process for risks exceeding delegated authority, and hold final authority over acceptability and pricing of such risks.
Provide hands‑on involvement on larger, complex risks and broader underwriting issues that significantly impact the company.
Oversee individual development of team members to maximize their potential as underwriters and leaders.
Participate with senior management in developing and executing strategic plans to meet organizational business goals.
Track underwriting performance for production, efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Lead Q/A review of underwriting activities to assure compliance with company philosophy and practices via formalized quality review processes.
Collaborate with Distribution leadership to establish long‑term strategic plans, initiatives, and innovation and succession planning for the department.
Maintain awareness of competitor products, marketplace, and industry issues to ensure competitive and adequate coverage.
Represent Amynta Dealer Solutions and Amynta in broader organizational projects and initiatives.
Qualifications
Highly motivated to build and take leadership ownership of a business.
Significant level of Management Liability underwriting and leadership experience, with strong understanding of all lines within the Private Company and Not For Profit product set.
Collaborative leadership style with a demonstrated ability to empower others.
Demonstrated ability to establish clear underwriting direction and strategy while possessing portfolio management skills.
Critical thinker who can bring together multiple solutions in a collaborative and cohesive way.
Individually accountable and results oriented.
Ability to attract and build talent and to effectively build teams.
Previous experience managing direct reports.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, negotiating, and planning skills.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Education & Experience
Minimum of 5 years of Management Liability underwriting experience.
Minimum of 5 years in underwriting leadership positions.
BA/BS degree or equivalent leadership experience.
