Public Relations Strategist (Contract)
San Mateo, California

This is a temporary position lasting 6–12 months with a hybrid schedule. A minimum of one day per week on‑site is required; additional in‑office days as needed. Applicants within driving distance of SIE Headquarters in San Mateo are preferred, and fully remote candidates will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Support global PR efforts for PlayStation's exclusive games, working with PlayStation Studios, development partners, and cross‑functional collaborators to deliver positive results and measurable media return on investment.

Help manage and execute key tactics such as media outreach, messaging development, event coordination, speaking opportunities, coverage reporting and asset distribution.

Develop written materials to support game launches, including press releases, fact sheets, messaging/Q&A, briefing materials, etc.

Collaborate with the broader SIE Communications team, including platforms, services, corporate, and social media, to contribute to broader brand narratives and initiatives for both external and internal audiences.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with

5+ years

of public relations experience, ideally with consumer‑facing brands or products.

Experience managing projects and ability to work collaboratively across a large global organization.

Strong media relations experience with various outlets across consumer, technology, and business press.

Skilled at handling multiple projects effectively across a large distributed team environment.

Experience with or for an external PR agency preferred; in‑house PR experience is a plus.

Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and interpersonal.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, Slack, AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot.

Base pay range:

$65-$70 USD per hour
