Job Summary
While providing leadership in carrying out the vision of the agency, this position is responsible for overseeing service coordinators. This is a key management position which has an essential role in supporting staff with case management and providing qualitative professional services to consumers, their families and the community.
Essential Job Functions
Supervises, develops, and plans the work of service coordinators involved in providing case management services to consumers and their families.
Develops performance objectives in collaboration with staff so that continuous improvement can occur.
Sets standards of accountability for staff in producing required case management documentation.
Supports staff toward effective utilization of time and resources.
Provides comprehensive training to new staff and ongoing training after the initial training period is over.
Serves as the agency representative who projects the vision of the regional center.
Participates in and/or leads collaborative practice with various community agencies.
Prepares and provides professional reports which relate to fiscal, case management and statistical accountability.
Assists in the development, implementation and review of agency goals, objectives, best practices, policies and procedures.
Assures that all consumers and families are informed verbally and in writing of their right to appeal every time a decision is made to change, alter or deny a service.
Organizes the service coordinators’ workload to best support the clientele served.
Is an expert on generic resources and develops this knowledge among the service coordinators.
Assures the monitoring of Early Start Vendors in keeping with Title 17.
Assures the development of consumer/family meetings.
Is knowledgeable about Title 17, Early/Start Federal and State Regulations, and all Department of Developmental Services (DDS) regulations applicable to regional centers.

Requirements
Education/Experience
Master’s Degree in social work, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field from an accredited college; two years of post‑Master’s experience, of which at least two years must have been with the developmentally disabled.
Special Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of the agency, applicable laws, rules and regulations, principles, objectives and techniques of social work, behavior and development of family relationships, medical‑psychosocial and socioeconomic factors affecting individuals and families. Understanding of supervisory principles, delegation, computer skills, and strong written and verbal communication.

Use of an automobile, possession of a valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance for the minimum amount prescribed by law or the ability to provide for independent transportation.
