Description of Work
Nebraska Public Media is building a new daily talk show designed to inform, engage, and connect Nebraskans through timely conversations on news, public affairs, culture, education, health, and issues affecting communities across the state. This show will be produced for both radio and digital platforms, with a focus on strong storytelling, thoughtful interviews, audience engagement, and content that reflects the interests and needs of Nebraska audiences.

To support this new initiative, Nebraska Public Media is hiring a team of content professionals who will help shape, produce, host, report, and distribute daily talk show content.

Under general supervision, the On Air Host/Multimedia Reporter/Producer produces and announces live newscasts and information in an on-air shift for Nebraska Public Media radio; researches, writes and produces feature stories and programs; utilizes professional judgement to determine overall content and effectiveness of radio and news programming. Researches, writes, edits, produces, and narrates long and short-form stories to broadcast to the listening audience. Conducts and records telephone and in-person interviews by arranging interview time and place to record pertinent information that may possibly be used for broadcast. Serves as associate producer for daily talk show to include researching topics, booking guests, writing scripts, and serving as back up host. Produces and edits content for digital platforms. Archives newscast and show materials for future reference.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or related degree and one (1) year of experience in news reporting and/or experience in the production of news/public affairs programming.

Additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year-for-year basis.

Experience originating, developing, writing, and producing content.

Ability to deliver live and recorded newscasts and host live interviews.

Interpersonal, reporting and researching skills necessary.

Knowledge of current events and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or relevant degree.

Three (3) years' experience with on-air hosting, news reporting, and production experience.

Knowledge of audio production.

Experience with standard broadcast equipment and with digital audio editing software.

Ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal, reporting and researching skills and have the ability to meet strict deadlines.
