Overview
Responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of auto, boat, and RV dealers and dealer groups with highly complex lending and financial requirements. Establishes and strengthens relationships with major dealership groups while promoting financial products and services to improve profitability with minimal risk to M&T Bank.
Key Responsibilities
Services customers seeking loan and/or deposit relationships with the bank by interviewing applicants, evaluating credit information, and making relationship recommendations. Participates in formal call programs to prospect new loan and deposit business. Evaluates requests for dealer commercial services, commercial real estate, and dealer principal financing; analyzes applicants’ financial condition, cash flow, and credit history to make appropriate loan decisions within lending guidelines. Approves loans up to the maximum lending authority and presents loan requests to senior credit officers and credit committees as needed. Keeps current loans in compliance with terms, maintains complete credit files, and assists with credit renewals. Monitors customer deposit accounts and dealer commercial service audits. Develops and implements strategies to grow the bank’s business in saturated, developing and emerging markets. Builds and maintains contacts in the professional services community (accountants, attorneys) and industry organizations. Works closely with Sales and Credit Managers to structure and price credits, maximize return, and minimize risk. Provides guidance to less experienced dealer commercial service relationship managers and promotes an inclusive work environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintains internal control standards and implements audit points and regulator requirements.
Education & Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years Dealer Commercial Services and/or Commercial Lending experience, or a combined minimum of 11 years higher education and/or work experience including at least 7 years in Dealer Commercial Services and/or Commercial Lending.
Education & Experience Preferred
Master’s degree. Superior relationship management, sales, and business development skills. Strong credit analysis and commercial lending skills. Knowledge of financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports. Proficiency with bank/PC software programs. Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and conflict‑resolution abilities and the ability to work with peers under tight deadlines.
Compensation
Pay range:
$123,600.00 – $206,000.00 Annual (USD).
