The Role
The AVP, Relationship Manager is responsible for managing an active portfolio of clients and developing business relationships that lead to loans, deposits, and other banking products offered by the Bank.

Develops and manages a significant and dynamic loan and deposit portfolio for the Bank specializing in serving businesses.

Develops business checking and deposit relationships with customers; promotes the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.

Interviews prospective applicants and requests specified information related to loan or credit application; re‑interviews applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.

Analyzes potential loan markets to develop new prospects.

Builds business relationships and referral sources.

Performs pre‑qualification assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests within the Bank’s credit culture and current economic and industry trends.

Collects and analyzes all information necessary to present a financing request to senior management or Loan Committee for approval; meets with existing or potential customers; visits loan sites; negotiates loan terms and conditions.

Solicits, negotiates, underwrites, and coordinates the closing of business loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures.

Coordinates processing of approved loans; ensures loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies; obtains necessary documentation from customers; resolves processing and servicing issues within his or her portfolio; approves loan disbursements in accordance with agreements.

Conducts due diligence interviews or calls with venture capital and Private Equity investors as needed.

Investigates credit inquiries and UCC filings to determine creditworthiness and appropriate collateral positioning.

Ensures collateral certifications or deletions are conducted by the appropriate personnel.

Negotiates, underwrites, and processes renewals of credit facilities.

Approves loan payments, draws from lines of credit, and fund transfers within specified limits.

Reviews monthly financial reporting, borrowing bases, and compliance certificates to assess compliance with credit agreements.

Reviews NSF and overdraft reports for customers in his or her portfolio; approves or declines exceptions within established lending limits.

Assists management in ensuring compliance with applicable banking regulations, especially the Bank Secrecy Act.

May represent the bank at community or civic functions to promote the Bank’s image and products.

Qualifications

Thorough understanding of financial services and banking products

Strong underwriting and portfolio management skills

Results driven

Financial modeling experience and comfort

Ability to manage complex credits and client relationships

Background in cash flow lending for sponsor‑backed borrowers an advantage

Thrives in a dynamic and remote work environment

Skilled communicator (written and verbal)

Strong ability to lead and motivate junior staff

Ability to interpret financial data and reports and recommend appropriate actions

Ensures absolute confidentiality in all areas of responsibility

Pro‑active attitude and resourcefulness

Experience Required
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree along with at least 3‑4 years of experience. Experience in asset‑based and cash‑flow lending products is required. Qualified candidates with equivalent experience should apply.
