Why This Role Matters
As a Sales Manager and Technical Support specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining open relationships with all customers. Reporting directly to our Sales Director, you will be a key contributor in generating sales for all our products and strengthening our position as a leader in mushroom spawn. This role requires a performance‑driven sales manager who thrives on building relationships, closing deals, and growing strategic accounts. You will be responsible for executing sales strategies that expand our customer base while representing Amycel to ensure our customers receive exceptional service, high product quality, and on‑time delivery. Your expertise and knowledge of our offerings will ensure customer retention and the development of long‑term strategic partnerships.
What You’ll Own
Sales & Customer Relations
Manage the full sales cycle, from taking customer orders and confirming them with the office to generating new sales and increasing production at customer farms.
Foster long‑term partnerships through consistent personal, phone, and written contact, including regular on‑site visits.
Provide comprehensive technical sales support across the Eastern United States and Canada, with potential expansion into Western markets based on technical expertise.
Conduct market research to stay informed on competitors and industry trends.
Technical Support & Problem Solving
Troubleshoot customer issues on‑site and respond to inquiries with timely, positive solutions.
Collect laboratory samples and provide proactive follow‑up on results to ensure customer success.
Address customer grievances by maintaining a detailed complaint file and resolving outstanding issues.
Operations & R&D Collaboration
Collaborate with the R&D team on commercial trials, ensuring accurate crop records and data collection.
Partner with the Inventory Manager and Sales Expediter to develop accurate customer‑specific sales forecasts.
Support warehouse and delivery logistics as needed, including providing directions or facilitating small local deliveries.
Professionalism & Administration
Maintain a rigorous daily appointment schedule and host visitors or tours for the facility.
Stay current with industry advancements by attending regular training meetings and seminars.
What’s The Right Fit
Education & Experience: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Agribusiness, Horticulture, or a related field. Professional experience in mushroom cultivation may substitute for the degree requirement at a rate of one year of experience for each year of education.
Demonstrate at least three years of technical and growing experience within the Agaricus mushroom industry (in addition to experience substituted for a degree).
Show specialized experience working with specialty mushroom varieties.
