Senior-level Technical Writer

Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for an experienced technical writer with a technical software background and a passion for building high-quality applications using agile practices to join our development team. Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world’s structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies.
We are adding a technical writer to our team in the Plano, TX office to document mainframe software. Excellent writing skills are a must, but a technical mind is crucial. Mainframe experience or familiarity is a big plus.
Responsibilities

Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication. Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation. Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users. May document engineering processes and specifications. Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.

Independently completes documentation work within management-set priorities
Experience / Education

Bachelors and 8+ years of related experience; at this level post-graduate coursework may be desirable, or Masters degree and 6+ years of related experience, or PhD and 3+ years of related experience.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,300 - $141,300. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
