MPB reaches over 50,000 people a day through various social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. MPB's social channels provide information, news, and entertainment around the clock, even in emergency situations.
MPB is seeking a dynamic broadcast professional with on-air hosting, show planning, public appearances, audio editing skills, as well as general knowledge of a broadcast operation facility. The Host/Radio Producer leads the daily production of local news and infotainment programming across radio, podcast, and digital platforms. This role blends editorial leadership, audio engineering, digital storytelling, and on-air performance in a dynamic public media environment. The ideal candidate is a sharp, resourceful personality and producer who brings strong content judgment, cross-platform production expertise, and the composure to deliver excellent work under deadlines. The ideal candidate is someone with both a commercial and public media background, or a willingness to learn and embrace public media. This candidate is also a meticulous producer and natural collaborator who doesn't lose your head when the board lights up and the guest is late. They are passionate about public service media, curious about the community, and instinctively know what makes a story worth telling — and how to tell it effectively across any platform.
Key Responsibilities

On-Air & Editorial Production
Produce assigned daily radio programs end-to-end: booking guests, scripting, timing, directing, and coordinating live broadcasts from start to completed product.
Develop compelling show topics, segment ideas, and story angles in partnership with hosts and editorial leadership.
Write all show content including billboards, tosses, rejoins, closings, and promotional material.
Host radio programs or segments as assigned, delivering content with professionalism, authority, and audience awareness.
Arrange and conduct interviews with guests, contributors, and community members.
Audio & Technical
Operate the control board during live broadcasts and support other productions as needed.
Record, edit, and mix audio to professional broadcast standards.
Edit recorded programs for podcast release; upload finished episodes with complete metadata (titles, descriptions, images, audio files).
Operations & Administration
Troubleshoot technical and production issues during live and recorded productions.
Maintain flexibility for breaking news, live events, and shifting production priorities.
Complete administrative duties including quarterly reports, SoundExchange reporting, and production documentation.
Coordinate guest communication, answer phones, and provide general production support.
May include some operational supervisory duties.
Reliable personal transportation required.
What You'll Need To Be Successful

Familiarity with livestreaming tools and remote contribution systems
Working knowledge of public media production standards and practices
Understanding of video production and editing
Proficient with audio production software, broadcast equipment, and video editing platforms
Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment
Willingness to work any time-slot including early mornings
Reliable personal transportation required
Hands-on experience with podcast production workflows and distribution platforms
Skilled storyteller across audio, video, and written formats
Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3-6 years of experience.
Agency preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree in journalism, media production, communications, or a related field preferred — or equivalent professional experience.
Experienced working with on-air talent, contributors, and interview guests
Proficient with audio production software, broadcast equipment, and video editing platforms
Experienced working with on-air talent, contributors, and interview guests
Minimum four years of professional experience in radio, podcast, multimedia, or digital content production
Strong journalism background with sound editorial judgment and news instincts
On-air hosting or announcing experience preferred
