Responsibilities

Peak Rentals is seeking a Director of SCADA & Automation to lead the strategy, performance, and growth of our automation and control systems supporting field operations and customer solutions. This role will oversee SCADA systems, industrial networking, telemetry, and operational technology (OT) across multiple field environments.

You will play a key leadership role driving innovation, standardization, and reliability while supporting both operations and business growth.

Lead the strategy and execution of SCADA and automation systems across field operations.

Oversee system performance, uptime, and reliability across remote assets and customer sites.

Drive modernization initiatives including MQTT, IIoT, edge computing, and cloud integration.

Provide technical leadership across PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, industrial networks, and communications systems.

Partner with business development on technical solutions, proposals, and customer engagements.

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of engineers and technicians.

Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Support standardization, cybersecurity, and scalability across the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following preferred:

Electrical Engineering

Automation Engineering

Computer Engineering

Industrial Technology

Information Systems

Related technical field

10+ years in SCADA, automation, or OT systems within oil & gas or energy

5+ years in leadership roles managing technical teams and projects

Proven leadership and team development skills

Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability

Experience driving technology transformation and operational improvement

Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain eligibility to drive per Peak’s driving criteria

Technical Expertise

SCADA platforms (Ignition)

PLCs/RTUs and industrial communication systems

Networking, telemetry (radio, cellular, satellite), and industrial protocols

Strong understanding of system reliability, architecture, and cybersecurity

Compensation
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Physical Demands and Exposures

Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.

Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.

Prolonged sitting, standing, walking.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Ability to individually lift: Maximum 50 lbs.
