The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is the key street-level salesperson in an assigned geography. He/she is responsible for executing a go to market strategy that includes both Direct Store Delivery (DSD) and direct routes to market. An ASM works as part of a team, reporting to the manager off his/her territory. This position offers a chance to drive the growth and success of Eternal and is the starting point for a career within our rapidly growing sales organization.
Position Responsibilities
The ASM is responsible for growing sales and market share by identifying and creating new business and increasing the customer base within the assigned territory.
This is accomplished by:
Implementing sales strategies to deliver annual volume objectives of the territory, expanding account and package distribution to maximize sales
Continuously monitoring and reporting competitive activities, and keeping abreast of market trends
Monitoring the performance of distributors within the area, identifying issues, and taking action to deal with them
Working with distributor personnel and retailers to ensure sales, distribution and merchandising objectives are met
Attend distributor meetings on a regular basis
Training and developing distributor sales personnel on brand standards to optimize sales performance
Rolling out and championing Eternal brand platform across all market segments
Establishing sales objective for the territory, in conjunction with the RSM & Director
Utilize a retail tracking app daily to document account visits, key accomplishments, and identified opportunities
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to lift 50lbs
Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Position Requirements
At least 2 years of relevant sales experience in the Beverage Business
Experience working for or with Direct Store Delivery (DSD) Distributors a must
Account sales experience is a plus
Proficiency working with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and PowerPoint
Good command of business mathematics with strong analytics skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Productive working in a collaborative team, environment with minimal oversight
Ability to perform physical activities required by the job duties including occasionally lifting and moving up to 65 pounds individually and greater weights with assistance; ability to bend, stretch, stoop, climb and perform other physical acts associated with selling, demonstrating and marketing products in assigned territory
Excellent at managing time, priorities and expenses
Some overnight travel required
****This role also supports the Mississippi market and requires travel to Mississippi for a minimum of one week per month. Candidates must be comfortable with overnight travel as part of the position responsibilities.*****
