Overview
The Senior Director of External Communications and PR for Jobsite of the Future is a “storyteller” responsible for the planning, development and execution of media relations and external communications strategies for Suffolk’s Jobsite of the Future, 100MAG and Artificial Intelligence initiatives.
This individual will execute Jobsite of the Future-specific media relations and external campaigns; share AI success stories, accomplishments and tools on jobsites; promote AI Engineers, data specialists and executives and thought leaders; leverage stories and news to introduce Suffolk to new regions and sectors; support company growth; and strengthen the Suffolk brand nationally by generating earned media coverage.

Responsibilities
- Develop strategies and pitch ideas for promoting Jobsite of the Future, 100MAG and AI successes to national and regional publications, online channels and blogs, broadcast media, and business and trade publications.
- Frequent visits to Jobsite of the Future locations on project sites to interview team members; mine and capture captivating success stories for external audiences.
- Maintain key messages, draft and edit press releases, media alerts, op‑eds and pitch letters for press coverage.
- Track award submission deadlines, develop strong messaging, and submit Suffolk for high‑profile awards.
- Identify and pitch AI Engineers, technology, and data leaders, and subject matter experts for speaking opportunities that promote Suffolk expertise (keynote addresses, panels, moderation, etc.).
- Collaborate with operations and functional teams (People & Culture; Suffolk Technologies; Operations; project teams in the field; Information Technology) to identify compelling stories and develop strategic marketing campaigns that help promote initiatives and raise visibility nationally.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key reporters; cultivate relationships with influential print, digital, and broadcast journalists and editors.
- Prepare Jobsite of the Future announcements for wire distribution; organize press events and press conferences.
- Work closely with the social media team to coordinate content, messaging, and external news and campaigns.
- Assist in generating and identifying compelling content for social media channels.
- Brief and prepare AI Engineers and other Suffolk spokespeople for media interviews; staff interviews; manage follow‑up action items to completion.
- Report on results using key performance indicators; share positive results with leadership and employees.
Qualifications
- A passion for storytelling, meeting people, and active listening.
- 8+ years in media relations and/or marketing professional services.
- Technology PR and/or agency background a plus.
- Track record of developing and delivering communications strategies and working with agencies and journalists is a plus.
- Very strong writing and communications skills.
- Demonstrated strategic ability and business sense.
Working Conditions

Compensation Information
The expected salary range for this position (Senior Director, External Communications & PR) in US‑MA‑Boston is between $175,000 and $246,000 USD. This represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Suffolk’s total compensation package. Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Suffolk offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy. Salary ranges may differ by geography and are reviewed regularly to reflect market trends.
