About the job

We’re looking for a Vice President - Consulting Americas to continue the growth and positioning of Kent’s Engineering & Consulting business unit.

The Consulting Americas Business Unit includes a team of specialist Engineers (including Houston Offshore Engineering Specialists) that deliver expert solutions to clients in:

  • Specialist consulting in Asset Development, Environmental, Floating Solutions, Low Carbon solutions, Decarbonization, Asset Integrity Management, Production Optimization, Process and Technical Safety, Late Life & Decommissioning, Offshore Wind & Power solutions and Advisory.
  • Hull engineering to Oil & Gas majors.
  • Hull engineering to the developing Offshore Wind Sector.

You will direct and oversee the assignments, activities, and resources of this client‑facing Business Unit (BU), and provide leadership and guidance to Project Managers and Technical Managers to ensure proper execution of projects. You will work with Operations and Sales to develop and implement strategy and identify opportunities for growth.

You will be responsible for client relations, quality control, safety, and financial performance for the unit, which typically has annual revenues over $25M.

The role will lead a transformational journey for the Americas Consulting business, with substantial growth in revenues aligned to the addressable market opportunity, part of a broader transformation programme across the E&C Business Unit.

This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President Engineering & Consulting, the global Business Line focused on delivering expert client services to Oil & Gas, Low Carbon, Renewable, Process and Chemical sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Fully accountable for emulating and promoting the Kent Safety Culture.
  • Operationalize and embed Kent’s Culture across the Business Unit and embrace the collective guidance of our purpose and beliefs, creating and promoting an empowered and agile organization based on trust.
  • Provide visible, decisive leadership and guidance so that the direction for the unit is clearly understood, communicated, and executed.
  • Develop and encourage a team culture that recognizes and features an energetic and confident approach while maintaining a positive, balanced, and enjoyable working environment.
  • Develop and enhance effective communications and relationships across the unit and the global Consulting Business Line to build a strong network within the team and a strong sense of teamwork and trust.
  • Work with other business units within Consulting and across Kent to maximize opportunities and bring the best of Kent to clients.
  • Drive empowerment of teams to collaborate and make decisions at the pace of our business environment.
  • Drive transformational change to embrace growth opportunities aligned to the addressable markets within which Kent operates.
  • Plan and execute the service line and geographical diversification of Kent’s current Consulting offering.

Strategy

  • Work with the Global SVP Engineering & Consulting, the Consulting Leadership Team, and other Business Unit leaders to develop and implement a strategic vision for the unit, and assist with directing and coordinating efforts toward realizing the vision.
  • Distil this longer‑term strategy into annual business plans and budgets, and communicate clearly to the organization, ensuring that business strategy is considered in decision‑making and planning.
  • Activities include:
    • Planning

    • Implementing strategies to expand capabilities, markets, and services for the unit.

Business Development and Growth

  • Work with Business Line SVP, Regional Business Development Lead, and other sector managers to drive sales and growth for the unit.
  • Work with the Global Service Line leadership to assess the addressable market and establish and execute growth plans.
  • Embrace a global operating model to enhance the current market offering.
  • Establish relationships with prospects and clients, communicate effectively to understand their needs and inform them of Kent’s solutions.
  • Manage existing client relationships and pursue or pass on cross‑unit opportunities.
  • Allocate operational resources to win work in line with annual and quarterly new award targets.
  • Represent the company at professional, technical, civic, and government circles to enhance its image and communicate capabilities.

Business Performance

  • Ensure all projects and contracts are delivered successfully against target.
  • Work with BU leadership to develop and deliver the annual growth budget.
  • Assume responsibility for the financial performance of projects executed by the unit.
  • Direct remedial actions to avoid financial losses and client dissatisfaction.
  • Negotiate and execute non‑standard contracts and those as specified in the Authorization Matrix.

Project Delivery

  • Monitor, manage, and assure excellent delivery of all projects and contract activities in terms of quality, cost, schedule, and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with Kent Management System procedures, anti‑bribery and corruption policy, HSE, quality, progress, and financial data integrity, and risk registers.

People Leadership

  • Lead a cultural transformation of the team through a global operating model.
  • Recognize employees and establish Kent as a leading provider in its expertise.
  • Support Diversity and Belonging in hiring and retention while keeping employee welfare at the forefront.

In addition, the employee may be required to perform other ad‑hoc tasks as needed or directed by management, within the reasonable scope of their skills and role.

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related fields.
  • Proven competency in multi‑disciplinary Consulting, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Maintenance, and Operations with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Communication

  • Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written.

Behavior / Core Competencies

  • Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • High energy and intuitive business development / account management leadership.
  • Deep understanding of the energy industry in the region, customer segmentation, and customer base across sectors.
  • Proven ability to develop high‑value proposals and engage senior‑level clients, comfortable in fast‑growth environments.
