Position Summary

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) seeks a Senior Director of Federal Government Affairs to implement ADA’s federal government affairs legislative priorities by designing and implementing advocacy strategies, acting as the ADA’s lobbyist on Capitol Hill, representing ADA at coalition and partner meetings, and managing volunteer leadership groups as needed. This remote position requires regular commutes to Washington, DC for Capitol Hill meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead federal government affairs efforts for ADA, scheduling meetings, participating in goal and budget setting, and tracking key performance indicators.
  • Participate in division leadership meetings and collaborate with other departments and divisions as required.
  • Act as ADA’s main lobbyist on Capitol Hill.
  • Assist with national advocacy committees and coalitions as needed.
  • Utilize ADA’s grassroots and communications capabilities to support federal campaigns.
  • Represent ADA in speaking engagements, both internal and external.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in federal government affairs.
  • Demonstrated active participation in public policy making as a lobbyist, legislative, or regulatory staff person.
  • A strong personal commitment to preventing and curing diabetes and improving the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
