Summary
The Vice President of Sales has primary responsibility for leading the local/regional colleagues and sales team to meet or exceed established sales goals and objectives. The VP works both independently and with local and corporate leadership teams to develop the strategic sales plan and initiatives that promote a culture of growth through leadership, collaboration, accountability and guidance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with local/regional and national leadership to develop the growth plan and set annual sales goals for the team ensuring the broad and individual goals are met or exceeded
- Communicates sales goals, progress and updates to all team members throughout region
- Actively coaches and mentors team members to develop sales behaviors and skills
- Mentors/ guides sales colleagues through coaching, attending new business meetings and strategizing next steps to advance the sale
- Analyzes market trends and develops/implements strategy to capitalize on key market opportunities.
- Actively works to develop and maintain a candidate pipeline of sales talent within market
- Leads weekly accountability meetings with team to review activity, progress, top opportunities and network development
- Collaborates with local and national marketing teams to develop market branding strategy including COI’s; key networking events and functions; new opportunities for thought‑leadership through speaking engagements and driving participant attendance at events
- Identifies key industry verticals and develops/executes marketing campaign with marketing team
- Analyzes all sales metrics (wins, markets, verticals) and makes adjustments for continuous improvement
- Cultivates M&A prospects, attends first or second meeting to provide overview of sales strategy
- Develops strategies for convergence sales (P&C, Retirement & Wealth, Rx Consulting, PEO, HR Consulting)

- Ability to influence colleagues without direct reporting lines
- Possess strong verbal, nonverbal and written communication skills
- Skilled at asking good questions and active listening
- Networking - internal and external – has and can build a network of relationships (inclined toward B2B Strategy)
- Strong Center of Influences (COIs) that partner to grow business.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple and changing business, colleague and market priorities and deadlines
- Ability to effectively present data
- Possess excellent interpersonal and social skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
- Ability to effectively analyze data and recognize analytical patterns
- Demonstrated proficiency in AI tools to facilitate sales process

Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, required; MBA, preferred
- 10+ years of proven sales and/or sales leadership experience
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office products
Compensation and Benefits
The typical base pay range for this role nationwide is $275,000 to $325,000 per year.
Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance.
