POSITION SUMMARY
The Sports Information Director oversees all statistical and media relations aspects of the intercollegiate athletic program, including home event management along with the Athletic Director and chosen staff. This position also supervises and coordinates staff and students to assist with the sports information department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write daily/weekly releases (recaps, previews, reviews) for all varsity sports via the ONU athletic website in a timely manner.
- Produce athletic publications: game notes, brochures, special events, media guides, and others as assigned.
- Report post-game results to necessary outlets and people.
- Maintain the athletic department website: rosters, player and coach bios, stats, records, photos, stories, and any other necessary updates.
- Schedule, train, and supervise all event workers that report to the SID, including press box and scorer’s table personnel for each sport.
- Manage the SID office by coordinating workers to assist with the various duties of the sports information department.
- Promote athletic achievements with the NAIA, CCAC, KCAC, CSC, and other necessary organizations.
- Maintain statistical records: both current and historical.
- Collaborate with media services to effectively manage all live streams of identified athletic events.
- Assist in coordinating special events, such as the Hall of Fame banquet.
- Maintain and distribute the master events calendar for use in the department and across campus.
- Act as the liaison between the university and the local media, as well as hometown media of university student athletes, the CCAC, and the NAIA, via electronic releases.
- Develop, monitor, and implement a social media presence for ONU Athletics.
- Collaborate with coaches to schedule and organize media days, team photos, and headshots.
- Additional duties as needed and as assigned by the athletic director.

- Exhibit a lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant.
- Possess college and/or high school experience in a sports information office.
- Effectively communicate with others and positively contribute to a team.
- Be a self-starter who sets a vision for this department and follows through with it.
- Have experience with print media.
- Have experience using the Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
- Have experience using statistical software, especially PrestoStats.
- Use proper English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Demonstrate an understanding and sympathy for education in the Wesleyan tradition and Nazarene school sponsorship.
- Demonstrate an active relationship with Christ as expressed in faith and service, which is in accord with the mission of Olivet Nazarene University.
- Be a model of Christian discipleship as confirmed through active engagement in a local church, involvement in campus worship, and through a vibrant, current testimony.
