About Redwood City
Redwood City is a Charter City operating under the council‑manager form of government. The City Council consists of seven members and is the governing body elected directly by the residents of Redwood City. Director of Public Works Services
The Director of Public Works Services reports to an Assistant City Manager and serves as a visible, collaborative, and service‑oriented leader. Responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance and enhancement of the city’s infrastructure, managing street, sidewalk, tree, water, sewer, storm water, solid waste, and environmental initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, maximizing asset life, and supporting long‑term system sustainability. The role requires hands‑on operational expertise in utilities operations and strong leadership to champion exceptional customer service and organizational collaboration.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of increasingly responsible experience in utility and general services in local government, including significant supervisory experience.
