Job Overview
Government Relations Director – Washington State. This field‑based role operates primarily in the field, traveling to client sites or designated locations as required, with occasional office attendance for meetings or training. Candidates must reside in Seattle, WA or Olympia, WA; non‑commuter candidates will not be considered unless an accommodation is granted.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement advocacy strategies to support business goals and state‑specific legislative and regulatory positions. Represent the enterprise in advocacy efforts, maintain strong relationships with legislators, regulators, and policymakers, and consult with business units to inform planning. Prepare and deliver internal and external written and oral presentations. Develop PAC and corporate political contribution strategies, maintain coalitions and grassroots capabilities, and influence trade associations and advocacy organizations.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in legislative, regulatory, political, public affairs, or industry roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Client‑facing experience.
- Health policy experience.
- Experience working with Washington state government.
- Experience writing formal communications for executive‑level audiences.
- Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, time‑management, and attention‑to‑detail.
- Concise, persuasive verbal and written communication skills.
Benefits & Compensation
Salary range: $148,212 – $222,318. Benefits include a comprehensive package with incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, 401(k) contribution, and other typical health, dental, vision, disability, and wellness benefits (eligibility subject to requirements).
