What You'll Do
The Senior Director, Foundry Design Enablement will be responsible for the technical enablement of Samsung process technology with our foundry customers, on the usage of all aspects of our PDK (Process Design Kit). In addition, the position will require the enablement of the customer's PPA evaluation by supporting Std Cell and Memory Compiler offerings/usage, and Design Methodology flows.
The candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of EDA tool usage, and a basic understanding of foundry process technology (FinFet/GAA). The ideal candidate will be enabled to grow within Samsung and qualified for further opportunities within our alternative verticals as well as within our Foundry group.
Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work Policy with an average of <20% travel per month.

- Enable and support process technology evaluation/use of Samsung’s PDK, as well as support enablement of Samsung’s design flow/methodology in the customer's environment. Effectively deliver Samsung’s technology advantages and differentiation to customers, and guide them to successful technology evaluation.
- Support smooth and successful product creation, including support for design spec definition to product tape‑out, in the field of design infrastructure enablement, design implementation/verification support, design tape‑out coordination/execution.
- Work with EDA/IP vendors and Samsung internal engineering teams for continuous PDK improvement.
- Provide market and customer voice on the process technology definition and design infrastructure development for strong Samsung foundry technology enablement.
- Manage and lead the design enablement team and work closely with design teams in headquarters to improve the design infrastructure of Samsung Foundry.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related Physical Science with 20+ years of experience, or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related Physical Science with 18+ years of industry experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related Physical Science with 15+ years of experience.
- Deep understanding of PDK (Process Design Kit) architecture and contents, including the understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM).
- 7+ years direct experience in foundry design enablement, physical design/verification, and tape‑out execution.
- Basic understanding of foundry process technology; knowledge of and experience with FinFet required, and GAA technologies a strong plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customers and teams across the globe. This is a customer‑facing role.
- Self‑motivated/discipline in tracking project schedule, closing action items, and customer requests.
- Understanding of digital (ASIC) and analog design infrastructure and flow/methodology.
- Familiarity with EDA tools such as Virtuoso/ICADV, Calibre, ICV, Pegasus, StarRC/QRC, HSPICE/Spectre in a Linux environment.
- Experience with scripting languages (Perl/Tcl) as well as experience processing text files with awk/sed or similar tools.
- 10% domestic and international travel.
- Strong customer orientation, good communication and presentation skills.

Base Pay Range: $246,000 – $430,000 USD
