Biddeford Middle School is seeking a Middle School Band Director who will develop the musical talents of students in grades 5-7. The position may include teaching General Music and requires both in‑ and out‑of‑school commitments such as performances, festivals, auditions, and fundraising events.
Job Duties
- Develops and administers music education curriculum consistent with school district goals.
- Promotes a safe classroom environment conducive to individualized and small‑group instruction.
- Develops a balanced music program, organizing class time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of musical learning and progress; modifies instruction to meet individual needs, including students with special needs.
- Utilizes a varied repertoire spanning time periods, genres, and styles.
- Plans, coordinates rehearsals, and directs students in performances outside the classroom.
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related discipline. A master's degree in a related area is preferred.
Certification and Licensing
Maine Department of Education teaching certification. Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) including fingerprints.
Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for grades 5‑7 is preferred but not required.
