Job Description
Job Title : Assistant Middle School Musical Director
Reports To : MS Activities Director, VMS Musical Director
Assist the middle school director with practices, costumes, set building and other duties for approximately 12 weeks from September to December. Practices are held before and after school. Includes two performances at the beginning of December.
To support each participating student in achieving a higher level of skill and an increased level of self‑esteem. Promote the overall mission of the school system and work to maximize the educational opportunities available to each student.
Essential Functions
- Teach individual participants the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport and/or activity involved.
- Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
- Work closely with the activities director in scheduling competitions, contests, and performances.
- Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
- Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
- Oversee safety conditions of the facility or area in which the assigned activity is conducted at all times when students are present.
- Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behaviors at all times, and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
- Ensure all students have been picked up or have other arrangements made at the end of all practices, competitions, and performances.
Specifications / Qualifications
- Qualifications will be based on sponsorship program.
- OSHA required certificate.
- Background check.

The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data.

The noise level in the work environment can vary based on activities taking place. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical eight hour workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including at desks, on or near the floor, standing, moving while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee typically works in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom.
