Job Title

Radio On‑Air Personality – Wheeling, WV
Responsibilities

Deliver newscasts, weather, traffic and sports updates.
Announce musical selections, program schedules and commercials.
Comment on music and other audience‑interest topics; interview musical personalities and audience members.
Write, review, and edit news copy, introductions, public service announcements, commercials, pre‑recorded reports, contests, and other on‑air scripts.
Operate studio equipment including control boards and remote programming systems.
Sell advertising space and manage program timing, sponsor runs, and syndicated content.
Maintain technical quality and accuracy of on‑air programming; monitor for compliance with station licensing and broadcast standards.
Handle emergency inserts and breaking news updates.
Qualifications

1–2 years’ experience as an announcer in a smaller market or college station.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcast Journalism, or related field.
Socially informed and perceptive; up‑to‑date on local and national trends, with specialized knowledge of topics relevant to on‑air discussions.
Pleasant, charismatic, well‑controlled voice; excellent pronunciation.
Strong communication skills for conducting interviews and engaging listeners.
Excellent writing and editing skills; proficiency in grammar.
Proficiency with media production and broadcast systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social networking.
Optional selling skills and other language proficiency (e.g., Spanish).
