Public Affairs Officer Job at NP Strategy in Birmingham

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Public Affairs Specialist to join our growing team in the Birmingham, AL office. This junior-level position at NP Strategy is designed to introduce individuals to a diverse range of client and team services while fostering the growth and expansion of their skill sets.

Client Support:
Work closely with NP Strategy client service teams to assist in providing services such as social media, message development, strategic communications, public affairs, media relations, and event planning.
Work closely with NP Strategy project leads to serve clients by:
Supporting stakeholder mapping, engagement, and outreach
Crafting messaging that aligns with client goals to include press releases, op-eds, social media content, etc.
Conducting research for client projects, as assigned
Supporting crisis and issues management by preparing statements, coordinating responses and providing advice on messaging.
Team Support:
Be flexible and willing to work after hours if needed for a client or team project goal
Meet annual billable and collections goals
 
Support NP Strategy business development efforts through proposal development, networking, and research
 
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, political science, or a related field
Work experience in communications, social media, PR, public affairs, or related fields
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail
Demonstrated interest in current events, policy, or media landscapes
