Position Summary
The Associate Director, Media Activation is a high level media specialist role at Orion, requiring knowledge in Video, Digital and Radio. The role involves strong leadership and managerial skills. Direct reports include Managers, Sr. Negotiators, Negotiators and Assistant Negotiators assigned to account portfolio. The Associate Director (AD) will assist VP & Director as a primary liaison with partner agencies, clients and external media representatives to ensure accounts are proactively managed. This individual will develop network and brand budgets, negotiate with key media partners, and oversee campaign results to accomplish client objectives and strategies. The AD will be responsible for taking an active role in the general management of the Media Activation team and contribute to the agency in terms of identifying best practices, marketplace observations and new opportunities.

Responsibilities

Represent Orion Media as a Senior lead at meetings and events

Act as key contact with AOR Media Investment, Media Planning, Account Strategy and Traffic teams to gain confidence and demonstrate value

Proactively seek new opportunities to improve performance and share ideas with internal team(s) and client(s) to grow client business

Billing penetration and financial reporting assistance

Oversee negotiations with media partners to secure optimal schedule for campaigns

Provide partner recommendations and justification designed to deliver on client KPI's to clients, media strategists and investment teams

Manage partnership deliverables and expectations with clients

Provide Media Activation support for new business pitches

Oversee, manage, and mentor a team while supporting and building a positive team environment promoting enthusiasm and encouraging strategic thinking - build corporate culture

Work cross-functionally across multiple departments at various organizational levels

Evaluate project requests and determining how to most effectively proceed in order to meet client needs, oversee and manage staff workload to monitor/meet deadlines

Collaborate internally with Media Investment, Client Strategy, Operations and Finance teams to ensure optimal way of working

Develop marketplace forecasting

Oversee the development of buy data analysis to craft pricing comparisons

Manage and oversee campaigns from pre-buy to invoicing

Utilize MediaOcean (MBOX) and other systems to compile account-specific/historical reports

Strategically use media research tools (eg: Nielsen) for buy development and trend analysis

Work to grow and develop the team through direct management and consistent, clear performance feedback

Ensure team has received all tools and training to excel in their roles

Assist team with conflict resolution with media partners, agencies, internally as needed

Create onboarding plans for junior staff in partnership with Director & VP

Required Skills & Experience

6-8+ years of buying Video, Digital and Radio with Media Company or experience within the Media Industry. Experience in negotiating upfront, scatter and opportunistic buys

Proven leadership ability and/or previous experience managing a staff

Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills

Proven superior customer service skills

Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with senior-level clients, colleagues and vendors

Superior commercial and analytical skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Desktop software, specifically Excel and Word, PowerPoint preferred

Proficiency with Mediaocean or equivalent Inventory Management system

Knowledge and understanding of Nielsen services

Demonstrated ability to think and execute 'out of the box' ideas

Strong developed relationships with the Networks and Digital partners

Ability to be a team player and leader
