About the Position We are looking for an Account Manager, Higher Education Academia (West Coast) to join our Academia and Government sales team. Reporting to the Director, Segment Sales, the Account Manager will lead and coordinate sales activity, utilizing expertise and other resources such as product specialists, client relationship managers and field marketing teams to meet and exceed sales targets. This is an amazing opportunity for someone with prior sales experience within A&G. If you have experience in this area, we would love to speak with you.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field
5+ years of experience as a direct field sales professional
Experience selling into ed tech or academia accounts
Experience selling directly to libraries is highly preferred
Advanced degree in Library Science or related field is a plus
Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and technical troubleshooting tools
Certifications pertinent to the sales profession
Previous experience with Salesforce or similar tools
Responsibilities Own the assigned territory and individual account plan coordination, working closely with product specialists, trainers, and renewal teams to develop an overall account plan that grows long‑term revenue.
Influence and motivate others in a matrixed sales organization, especially those who do not directly report to the Account Manager, to support and drive shared goals.
Focus on new and renewal business as part of expanding Clarivate’s footprint within the account; typically serve as the primary point of contact for clients.
Lead RFP coordination and development as needed; seek opportunities to unite multiple RFPs or current investments and collaborate with product specialists as appropriate.
Manage full portfolio forecast (renewals and new business) including specialty products and content; work closely with product specialists and support teams to ensure forecast accuracy.
Maintain a deep working knowledge of products, especially in core content areas lacking specialists.
Lead content demonstrations, engaging product specialists for product‑specific demonstrations when necessary.
Maintain awareness of all proposals and, where the account plan warrants, lead discussions with clients.
Ensure the account plan progresses and aligns with other objectives.
Manage the overall health of the account; coordinate routine checkpoints, handle business reviews, participate in new product roadmap discussions, and engage in client meetings.
Ensure client satisfaction and resolve issues, relying on product specialists for specialty product issues and collaborating with customer services and technical support.
Enter leads and new activity into Salesforce to ensure full collaboration and communication.

Compensation and Benefits US Only: Base salary $84,000‑$105,000 USD per year. The role is eligible for incentive or bonus earnings. Individual pay is based on experience, education, skill, expertise, and other relevant factors. In addition to a competitive remuneration package, you will participate in a benefits package that includes medical, dental, prescription drug, life insurance, 401(k) with match, long‑term disability coverage, vacation, sick time, volunteer time, discount programs, and more.
Hours of Work Full‑time permanent position, primarily working core business hours in your time zone, with flexibility to adjust to various global time zones as needed. Remote position ideally based in NV, OR, AZ or ID. Travel up to 50% across a Northern CA & NV territory.
