Part-Time Marketing Manager – Events & Community (Contract)

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite weekly)

Schedule: Part-Time (20–25 hours/week)

Duration: 6-Month Contract (Potential Extension)


Overview

We are seeking an experienced part-time Marketing Manager to support a high-growth startup and venture ecosystem program focused on community engagement, events, and strategic marketing initiatives. This role will serve as the primary execution lead across founder community programming, event activations, and operational marketing support during a maternity leave coverage period.


The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in fast-paced environments, and has experience working with startup founders, venture capital communities, or B2B technology ecosystems.


What You’ll Do

Events & Campaign Execution

  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of events including executive dinners, founder gatherings, conferences, and large-scale activations
  • Coordinate logistics, timelines, invitations, registration management, and onsite event support
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and external partners to drive successful event outcomes
  • Support industry event activations and integrated marketing initiatives tied to broader growth campaigns
  • Coordinate campaign elements including email, social, and event-related marketing support

Community Management

  • Manage and grow a Slack-based founder and operator community
  • Own community engagement strategy including content calendars, announcements, programming, and moderation
  • Coordinate monthly office hours, networking opportunities, and virtual community events
  • Develop and publish community content, resources, and event communications
  • Track engagement metrics and maintain visibility into community growth and activity

Operations & Reporting

  • Maintain campaign, registration, and engagement tracking processes
  • Prepare weekly updates and reporting across events, partnerships, and community initiatives
  • Support forecasting, quarterly business reviews, and operational improvements
  • Manage multiple concurrent workstreams with minimal oversight
  • Identify process improvements and operational efficiencies where needed


Qualifications

  • 5–12 years of experience in B2B marketing, events, community management, startup programs, or ecosystem marketing
  • Strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills
  • Experience executing events such as conferences, executive dinners, networking events, or marketing activations
  • Excellent written communication and content development abilities
  • Experience using collaboration and productivity tools such as Slack and Google Workspace
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment while managing multiple priorities


Preferred Experience

  • Startup, venture capital, accelerator, or founder ecosystem experience
  • Community management experience (Slack or similar platforms)
  • Experience supporting executive audiences including founders, investors, or C-suite leaders
  • Background in field marketing, ecosystem marketing, startup programs, or founder community engagement
  • Experience within B2B technology environments


Additional Details

  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite in San Francisco
  • Must be available to support occasional evening events during major conferences and activations
  • Pacific Time preferred with flexibility for occasional East Coast meetings
  • This is a maternity leave coverage role supporting an established program with existing processes and stakeholder relationships


Interview Process

  • Initial 30-minute phone screen
  • Work sample or portfolio review for selected candidates (examples may include writing samples, presentation decks, or event recaps)
  • Two additional 30-minute interviews
