Youll translate product development into clear, compelling updates. Youll connect with users and developers. And youll shape the voice of System76 across every outward-facing channel. This is a hands-on role for someone who can write, create, engage, and iterate quickly.What Youll DoContent & StorytellingWrite and publish blog posts about:Product releases (Pop!_OS, COSMIC, hardware)Behind-the-scenes development updatesEngineering deep dives (in collaboration with devs)Translate complex technical work into clear, engaging narrativesNewsletter (Lifecycle + Updates)Own the System76 newsletter end-to-end:Editorial calendarWriting and editing with a focus on brand growth and product educationSegmentation and optimizationEnsure customers stay informed and excited about whats shippingSocial Media & Community PresenceManage System76s social channels (X, LinkedIn, Mastodon, Reddit, etc.)Engage directly with the community (developers, Linux users, customers)Turn product updates into short-form, high-signal contentIdentify and amplify community contributionsEditorial OwnershipMaintain a consistent, recognizable System76 voiceBuild and manage a content calendar aligned with product releasesCollaborate with engineering, design, and product teamsFeedback LoopSurface insights from the community back to internal teamsIdentify content opportunities based on user questions and trendsOther duties as assignedWhat You BringCore SkillsExcellent writing and editing skills (clear, concise, technical when needed)Experience managing blog + newsletter + social as a cohesive systemStrong sense of product storytellingExperience10+ years in developing multi-platform content, community, or product marketingExperience with HubSpot marketing platform, ability to produce visual content within Canva or AdobeFamiliarity in editing short form videos for social platformsExperience with developer or technical audiences strongly preferredFamiliarity with Linux, open source, or developer tools is a major plusTraitsSelf-directed and fast-movingComfortable working directly with engineersStrong editorial judgment (what matters, what doesnt)Genuinely interested in open source and the Linux ecosystemWhat We OfferSalary: $95,000 $125,000 annual + benefits (401k, Health, PTO)A mission-driven team passionate about open source and user freedomHybrid flexibility and a collaborative work cultureWork on cutting-edge hardware and software used by engineers and creatorsOpportunity to shape the future of open source technologyWhy This Role MattersSystem76 is building a complete computing platformfrom firmware to hardware to OS and OS services.
