CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY ENGINEER

HOURS: Minimum of 7.5 hours per day. Must be able to work flexible and/or additional hours as mandated by library operational needs.

BARGAINING UNIT: Non-Bargaining Unit

LOCATION: Lakeshore Campus / Louis Stokes Wing

PAY RATE: Pay Grade 5 ($57,825.00)

Job Summary
This position reports to the CPL CITO and will be part of the multifunctional CPL Creative Technical Unit (CTU) team designed to focus on cross‑functional technology needs within CPL including staff technology education, Internet Technology Evangelist, intranet site management, 3D and immersive technology design and programming, digital performance support, CPL business operations technology development and programming, strategic technology planning, and management of CPL Digital Innovations Lab.

CTU members will be Creative Tech Engineers responsible for completing and maintaining various technology certifications such as Microsoft, CISCO, PMI, CompTIA A+, Security+ or approved continual education.

CTU members will have numerous cross‑functional skills to support overall goals while maintaining focused expertise such as Power Platform Tools and supporting other areas such as staff education or Microsoft SharePoint.

CTU members will be expected to explore new technologies, ideas, discovery, and education to help develop the CPL Metaverse and support a continuously improvement environment.

Job Requirements
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma with five‑to‑seven years pioneering technologist experience with proven track record and focus on technology implementations, software development, or experimental education; or

Associate degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering related technology field with two years’ experience.

Two year’s proven expertise and in two or more of the following areas are required:

Software Development/Programming

At least one Microsoft Business Power Platform Tool (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps or related)

Microsoft SharePoint

3D Fundamentals

Production Engineering

Virtual and Augmented Reality Management

Intranet Development

Low Code/No Code Development

Software Documentation

Organizational Development and Design

Technology Evangelist

Project Management

Technology Enterprise Networking

Technical Expertise

Must demonstrate technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Microsoft Live Events

Microsoft Power BI

Microsoft Power Apps

Microsoft Power Virtual Agent

Microsoft Power Automate

Microsoft SharePoint/Intranet

AI Builder

Pre and Post Editing

VR/AR Operations

3D/Holographic Design

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:

Work in a multidisciplinary team. Be responsible for managing and completing project life cycle for enterprise projects as assigned.

Plan, design, develop CPL innovative and business productivity tools, systems and supports (Power Platform).

Support CPL Innovations/Digital Lab.

Advise, evangelize, and educate CPL staff on usage of various technologies and business production tools.

Conduct drop‑in sessions with CPL staff and conduct online and in‑person learning as directed.

Meet CPL and departmental policies, technical lifecycle, and documentation requirements.

Work with internal and external CPL stakeholders.

Serve CPL and patrons by supporting innovation through learning and technology.

Participate and engage with CPL Patrons within CPL facilities and in the community outside of CPL locations as required.

Participate in design, setup, and breakdown of technology environments.

Maintain active approved technology certifications or advanced learning continual education.

Formal documentation and review products and technologies for CPL departments.

Test and pilot Innovations.

Perform task as technical support lead/production engineer for CPL events, online/virtual events, podcast, live/recorded events.

Support AR/VR productions and development.

Design, develop and maintain CPL holographic and 3D environments.

Work with CPL marketing team for continual improvement of CPL Intranet.

Develop understanding of CPL enterprise technologies such as library management system and automated materials handling systems.

Work directly with key CPL staff and departments including Digital Library, Marketing and Special Projects.

Drive CPL vehicles including sedan, minivan, sprinter/cargo vans as needed.

Manage internal and external resources including, but not limited to, consultants, staff and technology.

Perform other duties as assigned.
