General Description

The Pioneer Student Graphic Designer will assist the Pioneer Student Editor in designing page layouts and creating other graphics for the publication as needed. Reports To: Pioneer Advisor/Editor.
Minimum Education/Experience

Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours for the Summer semester. OR Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of Adobe InDesign
Knowledge of AP style
Ability to type
Good communications skills
Good human relations skills
Must be self motivated
Physical Demands / Working Conditions

GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sedentary work; may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: This position requires frequent communication with students, faculty, and staff to perform essential functions; must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
VISUAL ACUITY: Must judge, observe, and assess the accuracy and neatness of work assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Performs essential functions in an indoor classroom, lab, or office setting.
Work Hours

Will work up to 25 hours weekly.
Job Duties (Position Specific)

Use Adobe InDesign to design pages, create graphics, and write headlines.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices to prevent injuries and illnesses.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s procedures.
Participate in applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter-in-place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others as needed.
