WPRI-TV is seeking a full‑time TV photojournalist to join our news team based in the Providence, Rhode Island area. Television news photojournalists combine artistic talent and technical expertise to gather information, shoot video, edit and deliver creative visual news stories for broadcast television and online platforms.
We shoot on various models of Sony XDCAM cameras, edit on Adobe Premiere and primarily use TVU for live shots. We also have microwave vans, a satellite truck and Starlink units available to photogs, depending on the assignment.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Gather video and information in the field, work closely with reporters and other newsroom staff, and deliver content quickly.
Shoot and edit video stories under tight deadlines.
Operate microwave, satellite live trucks, IP‑based live transmission gear and other broadcast equipment.
Work any and all shifts as necessary, including overnights/early morning, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Cross‑train as newscast show editors.
Present a professional image as a representation of the station at all times.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Specialized Skills
Demonstrate solid ethical news judgment and attention to detail.
Understand basic storytelling, shooting, lighting, audio and editing techniques.
Maintain excellent communication skills and a positive work environment through active teamwork.
Education & Experience
Previous newsgathering experience is preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Work Environment Requirements
Operate computers, cameras and vehicles in a high‑stress environment with deadline pressures and the demands of breaking news.
Day‑to‑day multi‑tasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously with frequent change in direction and priority.
Transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures, rain, snow and severe weather events.
A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required.
