Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Senior Controls Engineer
to lead the design, development, and implementation of industrial automation and control systems. This role is responsible for delivering high-performance, reliable control solutions while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in PLC/HMI programming, system integration, and industrial networking, along with strong project leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop control systems architecture for industrial equipment and automation systems
Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial robotics
Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and I/O lists
Lead system integration, testing, and commissioning activities (on-site and remote)
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and project scope
Support proposal development, cost estimation, and technical documentation
Diagnose and resolve complex field issues and implement long-term corrective actions
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for system performance and reliability
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience in industrial controls and automation
Strong expertise with PLC platforms
Allen-Bradley, Siemens
Experience with HMI/SCADA development
Experience in the Water/Wastewater Sector Preferred
Proficiency in industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, etc.)
Experience with motion control, servo systems, and VFD integration
Ability to read and create electrical schematics
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Willingness to travel up to 30% as required
