Role Overview
Director of Communications & PR — We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Communications to lead and scale our worldwide PR function. This role will define and drive our global narrative, translating product innovation into compelling consumer stories that resonate across markets, media, and culture.
You will own the development and execution of high-impact communications strategies, leading earned media and product storytelling through traditional and non-traditional tactics. You’ll shift communications from feature-led announcements to experience-led storytelling, helping consumers understand how technology shows up in real life, in moments that matter. This role requires a leader who can operate at both a strategic and tactical level—building campaigns, guiding teams, and delivering results in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
This role reports to the VP of Communications and oversees a globally dispersed team. The role is hybrid but candidates must be based in either New York or San Francisco.

About The Role
- Define and execute a comprehensive global communications strategy aligned with business objectives and growth priorities
- Drive the global narrative across markets, positioning the company as a leader in consumer technology and culture
- Lead all aspects of public relations, including media relations, product launches, integrated campaigns, executive visibility, and thought leadership
- Translate product innovation into compelling, consumer-facing storytelling across earned, social, and influencer channels
- Oversee major product and company moments, ensuring strong, coordinated global execution
- Manage and develop a high-performing, globally distributed communications team
- Lead and optimize relationships with PR agencies across regions to ensure narrative consistency, quality, and measurable impact
- Partner closely with product, marketing, research, legal, and executive leadership to deliver cohesive and effective communications strategies
- Establish KPIs and modern measurement frameworks to evaluate performance and continuously optimize campaign performance
- Ensure McAfee has narrative consistency across earned media, creators, owned content, partner platforms, executive and internal narratives
- Monitor the global media landscape and cultural trends to identify opportunities for proactive storytelling

Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive experience in consumer PR
- Experience in consumer tech strongly preferred (or similarly fast-paced, high-growth industries)
- Proven track record of leading global PR strategies and managing teams across multiple regions
- Proven roster of media, influencer, and industry relationships with a history of securing high-impact coverage
- Experience leading product communications and high-visibility launches
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and counsel senior stakeholders
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and execute at speed
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

The starting pay range for this position is $141,680.00-$232,760.00. McAfee takes into consideration an individual’s skillset, experience and location in making final salary determinations. For further details, please discuss with the Talent Acquisition Partner.
