Television Specialist
This is a 12‑month limited‑term, full‑time position located at Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, Tuolumne County. The role reports to the Supervisor of Academic Instruction or Supervisor of Vocational Instruction.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and perform technical and professional work associated with the writing and production of television and video tape‑recorded programs.
- Operate professional video camera equipment, record audio, administer lighting, staging and editing to produce high‑quality educational and training videos.
- Write scripts, create storyboards, and edit video content using industry standard software.
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and technical issues.
- Upload and download video files to facilitate timely sharing within the department.
- Supervise and train inmates in the safe handling of equipment and production activities.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of television production techniques, audio recording, video camera operation, lighting, script writing, editing, and visual communication principles.
- Experience with video formats such as JPEG, MPEG, AVI, VOB and ability to meet aspect‑ratio specifications.
- Familiarity with graphics creation for video productions and still photography.
- Ability to assume leadership, work independently, solve problems, communicate effectively, and multitask in a technical environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience producing educational and training video content.
- Knowledge of cable television systems and distribution.
- Innovative problem‑solving skills related to audio and visual communication.
