Job Description Fluence is seeking a Business Development Manager who will play a critical role in building and advancing early-stage customer relationships to drive qualified pipeline growth and shape how to win. This role is focused on originating and developing new commercial opportunities, positioning Fluence for success, and delivering indicative proposals that prepare the sales team to close.
Key Responsibilities Lead Generation
Collaborate with Sales Directors, Marketing, and Growth teams to define and execute the business development strategy
Contribute to market prioritization, customer segmentation, and marketing campaign design, specifically for Poland and Eastern EU
Lead outbound outreach and manage inbound lead conversion to generate high-quality sales leads and pipeline
Account Development
Independently build strong relationships with potential clients and their key stakeholders early in their decision‑making journey, with minimal support from other customer‑facing Fluence teams
Deliver tailored introductory and deep‑dive presentations to position Fluence’s offerings effectively and strategically
Serve as a trusted first point of contact, shaping the customer’s understanding of Fluence’s capabilities and value proposition; position Fluence for success with tailored presentations
Lead Qualification
Qualify prospects using predefined criteria such as customer profile, commercial readiness, project size, and technical fit
Conduct discovery calls to deeply understand customer needs, project timelines, budgets, and decision‑making structures
Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records of prospect interactions and progress in Salesforce; track and manage pipeline in Salesforce
Collaborate closely with regional Account Managers to seamlessly transition qualified leads to the Account Manager, ensuring highest likelihood that customer opportunities will transact with Fluence in a timely manner
Opportunity Development
Utilize Fluence’s differentiators to shape the opportunity and influence the project specifications to favor the company’s strengths
Deliver indicative pricing and proposals to begin opportunity development
In select cases, take qualified lead further into tangible opportunity development
Build internal opportunity overviews and lead initial deal strategy and win‑planning discussions
Market Intelligence
Gather and communicate insights from customer and stakeholder conversations back to Fluence’s Sales, Product, Marketing, and Strategy teams
Inform pricing strategies, product development, and go‑to‑market positioning
Monitor and analyze competitor activities and broader market dynamics to identify opportunities for differentiation and growth
Identify new revenue opportunities or segments that may be emerging in the market
Industry Engagement & Representation
Represent Fluence at industry conferences, forums, and networking events to build brand visibility and thought leadership
Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to generate leads through events and community engagement
Build and maintain relationships with key industry partners, associations, and influencers across the clean energy and energy storage sectors
Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Energy, or related field (masters degree is a plus)
At least 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management, ideally within the clean energy, energy storage, or technology sectors
Strong understanding of the energy industry and competitive landscape, ideally with established industry relationships and strong technical understanding
Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM tools
Fluent in Polish and English is a must
