Director – Men’s Basketball Operations
Job Summary
Oregon State University Athletic Training seeks a Director – Men’s Basketball Operations. This full‑time (1.00 FTE), 12‑month professional faculty position supports the Men's Basketball Program, coordinating activities, managing budget, and collaborating with coaching staff to maximize athlete performance and program success.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative (30%)
– Documents coaching staff meetings; manages all ticket requests for game days; coordinates with Athletic Trainer, Equipment Manager, Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Sports Information office; records statistics during practices and games; disseminates information; coordinates practice times with player schedules.
Assistant to Head Coach (20%)
– Oversees head coach’s schedule; serves as primary contact for program; attends meetings on behalf of program; prioritizes events, emails, calls.
Leadership / Supervision (15%)
– Plans and implements video editing, scouting, operations; hires and supervises student manager positions; provides leadership and direction; establishes goals; conducts performance evaluations; disciplines up to dismissal; resolves grievances.
Camp Coordination (15%)
– Organizes administrative aspects of men’s basketball camps: marketing, registration, payroll, counselor employment, venue operations, housing, meals, equipment; manages issues during camps; monitors accounts.
Travel (10%)
– Coordinates and arranges team travel for away games: flights, ground transportation, lodging, meals; arranges practice/ shoot‑around times; manages post‑game meals and per diem per NCAA and OSU guidelines.
Fundraising / Events (5%)
– Organizes coaching clinics for regional coaches; participates in fundraising activities to support program financing.
Budgeting / Fiscal Support (5%)
– Oversees team budgets, planning and monitoring; manages overall program budget including travel and postseason operations.
Qualifications
At least 3 years of experience working with a Division I men's basketball program as a player, coach, or in a relevant administrative role.
Proven oral and written communication skills with diverse communities.
Ability to multi‑task in a highly competitive/stressful environment.
Experience coordinating budgets, travel, camps, and recruiting support.
Valid driver’s license; must succeed in motor vehicle history check.
Background check clearance: criminal history check, sex offender registry check, and any required youth program checks.
