Grays Harbor Public Utility District is seeking a full-time Transmission & Distribution Engineer to perform electrical engineering for the District's transmission and distribution systems.

Duties and tasks include:

Staking of transmission and distribution equipment for removal, replacement and/or improvements

Cost estimating for large projects and equipment procurement

Work order and drawing preparation in AutoCAD and NISC Mapwise GIS

Calculations for conductor sag, wire tension, pull strengths and more

Material and bid specifications

Planning and analysis, including short circuit, load flow, and coordination

Obtain easements, permits and other legal documentation for project completion

Work closely with operations personnel, system dispatch, purchasing and warehouse staff, and other PUD employees

Education and/or Experience:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is required. T&D power utility experience is preferred, and candidates with other relevant experience and qualifications are encouraged to apply. Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
Must have a valid Driver’s license. Certified Engineer in Training (EIT) for Level I and II or licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Washington for Level III is preferred.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word. Experience in engineering software, including NISC, AutoCAD, Aspen, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, Milsoft Windmol and LightTable, Synergi Electric, CYMDIST and GIS/ESRI, is preferred.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb stairs, bend, reach, and sit for extended periods of time. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Field work will sometimes require walking on uneven terrain. Required to speak and hear clearly when communicating over the telephone and in person.

The successful candidate will be hired at Level I, II, or III depending on experience. This position is a bargaining unit position represented by IBEW Local 77.

Salary Ranges:

Monthly Salary Ranges - Effective February 1, 2026:

Level I (0-4+ years) $7,349 - $8,828

Level II (5-8+ years) $9,077 - $11,833

Level III (9+ years) $12,188 - $13,372
