The Preventive Search and Rescue Initiative (PSAR Initiative) is looking for a volunteer developmental editor to help turn audio transcripts, interviews, field notes, and rough drafts into compelling written content.
We have a growing collection of recorded conversations, interviews, presentations, hiking safety discussions, rescue-related topics, nonprofit development discussions, and other material that contains valuable information but needs an editor to shape it into clear, engaging articles and written pieces.
This is not primarily a proofreading role. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping organize ideas, improving structure, identifying key themes, and turning raw material into content that people actually want to read.
Projects may include:
Articles for our website
Hiking safety and outdoor education content
Nonprofit and volunteer stories
Interview-based articles
Thought leadership pieces
Educational guides
Content derived from audio transcripts
We're looking for someone who can take a rough transcript and help determine:
What the article should be about
What information is most important
What can be removed
How the piece should be organized
How to make the content more engaging and readable
Ideal Background

Strong nonfiction writing skills
Professional experience is welcome, but we are also interested in talented volunteers who have edited substantial written work and can demonstrate strong judgment.
