Job Summary
Opportunities, Inc. is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-driven Marketing & Communications Intern to support the organization’s marketing, communications, donor engagement, and community outreach efforts. This internship provides hands‑on experience in nonprofit marketing, social media management, fundraising campaigns, event coordination, and storytelling while helping promote inclusive services and opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

The intern will work closely with the Director of Advancement to help share the stories, impact, and programs of Opportunities, Inc. through digital communications, events, and donor engagement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for students or emerging professionals interested in nonprofit marketing, communications, public relations, social media, fundraising, or community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications

Assist with creating and scheduling social media content for LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram

Support development of newsletters and email campaigns through Constant Contact

Help capture visual content by photographing and filming programs, events, and community activities

Assist with drafting blogs, website updates, flyers, and promotional materials

Coordinate with program staff to gather stories, success highlights, employment updates, and community partnership content

Help maintain content calendars and organize digital assets

Assist with tracking social media engagement and campaign analytics

Support website updates and SEO tagging for blog and web content

Ensure proper photo and media consents are on file prior to publishing content

Donor & Community Engagement

Assist with donor acknowledgment letters and stewardship communications

Help maintain donor and outreach records in DonorPerfect

Support fundraising campaigns, direct mail efforts, and donor outreach activities

Assist with preparing engagement materials for donors, families, and community partners

Help coordinate community outreach initiatives and stakeholder communications

Event & Campaign Support

Support planning and logistics for fundraising events, trainings, community connection events, and outreach activities

Assist with event setup, registration, photography, vendor coordination, and follow‑up communication

Help track event participation, engagement, and campaign metrics

Support promotion of advocacy events, family meetings, surveys, and community trainings

Preferred Qualifications

Current college student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Graphic Design, Journalism, or related field

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn

Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design platforms preferred

Interest in nonprofit work, disability services, or community engagement

Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks

Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively

Photography, videography, or content creation experience is a plus
