Television Broadcast Engineer
Kentucky Educational Television (KET) has a full‑time position in its Lexington, Kentucky Network Center. KET is Kentucky’s only statewide media organization, broadcasting into 8 states and 10 media markets. This role supports a wide range of productions, including the nightly statewide news program, six locally‑produced series, and documentary series.

Responsibilities

Install, repair, and maintain broadcast equipment, including master control, production studios, post‑production systems, and other technologies.

Update system components—hardware and software—and ensure security standards, protocols, and drivers are properly managed; maintain records and decommission systems.

Enforce network and physical security procedures.

Configure, control, and monitor camera and video levels for studio and remote productions.

Collaborate with IT systems administrators, transmission engineers, production staff, and web developers to enhance network efficiencies, improve workflows, and solve problems.

Maintain records of system configurations and workflow SOPs; keep documentation current as systems are modified or new systems installed.

Communicate effectively with team members, share knowledge and processes, and participate in training opportunities.

Work under deadline pressure in an efficient, creative, and positive manner.

Stand, bend, kneel, and manipulate equipment up to 70 pounds; operate equipment for extended periods.

Qualifications

Associate degree in electronics, IT, or related field; two (2) years of professional broadcast systems experience, or equivalent education, training, and experience.

Proficiency with routing and distribution systems, video servers, playout automation systems, multiviewers, transcoding, LTO libraries, production switchers, digital audio systems, graphics systems, non‑linear edit systems, MAM, VTRs, and studio/field cameras and lenses.

Demonstrated skills in operating and troubleshooting Windows‑based systems and studio, post‑production, and master control playout systems.

Working knowledge of broadcast test generators, test equipment, and signal monitoring systems.

Working knowledge of IP networking and configuration.

Experience with AI tools to enhance productivity and troubleshooting is preferred.

Valid driver’s license.

Availability for flexible schedules, occasional evenings, and weekends.

Professional interpersonal skills and appropriate appearance at all times.
