Overview The Regional Account Manager (RAM) position is within the Hematology and Nephrology Franchise, a division of Alexion, and will focus on PNH. The RAM will be assigned a sales territory focused on academic centers, hospital systems, private practices, and infusion centers, primarily focused on hematology. The role is responsible for the growth and expansion of the PNH portfolio and other products following FDA approval for appropriate specialists.
Responsibilities Consistently achieve or exceed sales objectives in assigned territory
Create and maintain strategically targeted account‑specific business plans that reflect an in-depth understanding of local market forces impacting product sales
Develop and maintain strong clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge
Educate on the clinical approach to disease states leading to a successful differential diagnosis and appropriate testing and treatment of patient population
Appropriately utilize all marketing tools and resources, including PowerPoint presentations
Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including aHUS RAMs, TLLs, SALs, MSLs, Market Access, FRMs, PEMs, Diagnostics, and enterprise partners
Lead the implementation of a patient‑centric partnership model which will include physicians, their staff, patients, clinics, and hospitals
Execute local promotional activities and programs for therapeutic areas
Provide a high level of product expertise and customer service to all accounts
Track activities and submit reports on sales activities accurately and on time
Demonstrate proper use of products to clinicians in a hospital environment
Handle customer questions and objections consistently with product indications and sales training methodology, including compliant triage of inquiries to appropriate partners
Act as an effective administrator who efficiently manages time, CRM tools, resources, and workload
Proactively interact with Alexion management to refine product and market initiatives
Work professionally and in accordance with the company’s policies and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree
5 years of pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience (e.g., biotech or medical device) or 5 years’ experience in a medical setting
Proven, documented track record for delivering consistent, top‑tier sales results in institutions and hospital systems
Ability to work effectively independently and in an interdependent, team‑oriented environment
Strong clinical and account selling, analytical and strategic skills to develop accounts
Demonstrated ability to seek out and qualify leads and profile new accounts
Ability to gain consistent access and develop strong, professional relationships for scientific exchange and promotion with healthcare providers in community
Effective verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities
Must live in the geographic territory or within 50 miles of the territory border
Ability to travel within territory on a regular basis, including frequent overnight and weekend travel
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to work in a field environment, using public transportation, automobile, train, or plane; work comfortably in a clinical setting; use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem solve; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours
Preferred Qualifications Advanced or master’s degree
5 years of pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience (e.g., biotech or medical device)
Sales experience in the orphan or ultra‑orphan area
Experience in bio/pharma, hematology, and/or oncology
Compensation and Benefits The annual base pay for this position ranges from $152,636 to $228,954. Employees are eligible for short‑term incentive bonuses, equity‑based awards for salaried roles, and commissions for sales roles.
