Opportunity
As the Public Relations/Communication Coordinator for the Energy Program (EP), you will develop and coordinate public relations and communication activities for Washington State University’s Energy Program. Your responsibilities include writing and editing articles, news releases, newsletters, brochures, web pages, social media content, and additional materials; supporting research and projects that advance the unit’s communications and public relations goals; leading strategic engagement through digital media such as program websites, social media, blogs, newsletters, annual reports, and the promotion of Energy Program publications; researching and writing original content for blogs, social media, reports, technical memos, and extension materials; promoting programs, projects, and engagement opportunities to both internal WSU and external audiences; developing and implementing unit communication strategies; editing and proofreading materials for blogs, newsletters, and reports; promoting and facilitating internal communications; creating visual media such as figures, graphics, and other design elements; ensuring adherence to digital accessibility guidelines; and performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing or a relevant field AND either two (2) years of professional experience in print or broadcast news media, public relations, marketing including the use of electronic media or two (2) years of other relevant professional experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.
Demonstrated ability to interact with large groups and individuals at all work levels.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and software applications.
Demonstrated experience communicating about energy or related topics.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with subject matter experts on communications products.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet departmental driving standards.
Ability and willingness to travel regionally, including occasional overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing or a relevant field.
Experience working in a higher education setting.
Education or experience in the energy field.
Experience overseeing the design and production of digital materials and publications.
