Communications Specialist – Marketing and Communications Department, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine
The Communications Specialist supports the UNLV Academic Health Initiative and the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine by planning, developing, and implementing strategic communications that highlight academic health priorities across the institution. The incumbent produces written, visual, and digital content that translates complex healthcare and scientific information into clear, engaging messages for diverse audiences. This role collaborates with communications professionals across UNLV’s health sciences schools, as well as with the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine Marketing & Communications Department, and is housed within the school of medicine’s marketing and communications department. The position will report to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications for the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or CHEA); credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

3–5 years of experience.

In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, may qualify with seven years of total experience.

For positions requiring a master’s degree:
Six additional years of relevant experience.

A bachelor’s degree plus two additional years of relevant experience.

An associate degree plus four additional years of relevant experience.

Required Qualifications

Professional experience in healthcare, academic, or scientific communications, including translating complex health or research topics into clear, audience‑appropriate messaging.

Experience developing digital, visual, and social media communications to support health‑related programs or initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting communications for academic health centers, medical schools, or health sciences programs, including cross‑unit collaboration and coordinated messaging.

Familiarity with higher education or healthcare systems and communicating research, education, or clinical initiatives to broad audiences.
