Graphic Designer III

Position Compensation: $6,285.00 - $7,869.00 per Month.

Job Overview
Under the direction of the IT Manager, the Graphic Designer III (GD III) is an advanced journeyperson who performs the most complex graphic design projects for the California Military Department. The incumbent designs, produces, and manages a comprehensive range of graphic design and print production materials, including posters, flyers, brochures, forms, charts, newsletters, and web/SharePoint content. The GD III manages digital imaging projects, print production workflows, and overall program administration, ensuring quality, color fidelity, and timely delivery.

Responsibilities

Develop and produce digital images and media for publication on public websites and intranet platforms.

Interpret agency standards and prepare layouts for printed materials, performing color correction and file preparation for multi‑color process printing.

Manage materials procurement, project scheduling for organizational events, and establish standards and templates.

Oversee workflows for all print and graphics projects, including image scanning, importing, modification, and retouching.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff on graphics design best practices.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications as specified in the class specification. These typically include a combination of education and experience in graphic design, proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud suite, and a portfolio demonstrating complex design projects.

Desirable Qualifications

Certification or degree from an accredited professional institute in art, design, visual communications, or computer graphics.

Demonstrated excellence in organizational, project management, and time management skills.
